What is Live From Denmark St?
A new live music venue for bands to showcase an entire set. Each performance is professionally filmed by a 3 man camera crew with additional static cameras, and footage from the performance used in a weekly internet tv show . Each band who performs also receives a copy of their full set on DVD.
What is the show’s format?
Live From Denmark Street comprises a midweek and weekend edition. Midweek is a magazine style show featuring tracks from live band performances, interviews, gig news and audience participation. Bands that feature in the midweek episode compete for audience votes, and the band receiving most votes gets their entire live set broadcast on the weekend show.
Where is it broadcast?
Initially the show will feature on UStream.tv UStream is a great internet TV outlet, featuring a number of channels broadcasting in high quality streaming (much better than YouTube). We are also negotiating deals with two satellite channels, who are interested in taking the series if the pilot is successful. Each show remains viewable online with UStream for 6 weeks after initial broadcast.
What about the quality, is this just a webcam or what?
The show is filmed using broadcast spec cameras. All the amps and drum kit are individually mic’d up and fed to the Denmark Street recording studio control room, and recorded as multitracks which will be professionally mixed before being sync’d to the edited camera footage. What’s more, thanks to support from Marshall Amps and DrumWright of Woodley we will be providing all the backline including amps, cabinets, drums, cymbals - the lot.
What is the cost?
We are not a normal venue, so we can’t cover costs by ticket sales or beer sales, and we have a crew, equipment hire, and post production to take care of so we can’t do this for free. Therefore each band that performs will be charged £160 - but every band gets a professionally edited DVD of their performance in return.
What is in it for the band?
A totally different gigging experience. This is your chance to play a full set in a decent environment showcasing your set. A full backline is being provided by Marshall Amps, and a DW drumkit is being supplied by Drumwright of Woodley. Every band will be sounding their best as a result!
